Programs & Activities

The Association's work is organised around ongoing areas of activity rather than time-limited projects. The areas below describe what the Association does as a professional body.

  • Professional Exchange Among Members

    Description
A standing channel through which member family doctors discuss clinical questions, practice organisation and professional experience with peers who work in the same setting.
    Purpose
To reduce the professional isolation of independent practice and to make collective experience available to each member.
    Relevant information
Participation is open to members of the Association. Patient-identifying information is never exchanged.
  • Continuing Education

    Description
Encouragement and coordination of ongoing study within the membership, including the circulation of clinical literature and the sharing of learning between members.
    Purpose
To keep members' clinical knowledge current across the broad range of presentations seen in family medicine.
    Relevant information
The Association does not award medical qualifications or licences; it supports learning undertaken by its members.
  • Standards and Professional Ethics

    Description
Work on the ethical expectations of independent family medicine practice — informed consent, confidentiality, honest communication and appropriate referral.
    Purpose
To maintain public trust in the private family doctor and a consistent standard of conduct among members.
    Relevant information
The Association is not a licensing or disciplinary authority; regulatory powers rest with the competent medical authority.
  • Public Information on Family Medicine

    Description
Plain-language explanation of what a family doctor does, why continuity of care matters, and how families benefit from a long-term relationship with one physician.
    Purpose
To improve public understanding of the role of the family doctor.
    Relevant information
Information published by the Association is general and educational. It is not medical advice and does not replace consultation with a doctor.
  • Membership Support

    Description
A professional point of contact for doctors in private family practice, including general guidance on membership of the Association.
    Purpose
To give independent practitioners an organizational point of reference.
    Relevant information
Membership enquiries may be sent to info@privatefamilydoctors.cloud.
